LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Hair seems to grow too much in some places and not enough in others. Our bodies haven’t gotten the memo that smooth and sleek are the style—especially below the neck. That can mean a lot of upkeep for people with DNA programmed for all kinds of fuzz.

Of all the hair removal devices out there, our Lutronic Clarity II™ laser offers the most innovative, effective method of laser hair removal. It’s simply the best laser hair removal treatment option available today.

How does laser hair removal work?

Utilizing dual wavelengths of varied intensity, the Lutronic Clarity II™ laser safely and comfortably destroys hair follicles by targeting the pigment in unwanted hair. That, coupled with our 20 years of experience performing laser hair removal, makes treatment with us your best option for a hair-free, carefree look!

We always assess the cause of your excess or unwanted hair so we can factor in medical or hormonal conditions. That’s just one of the many benefits of getting laser hair treatment at a fully licensed, medical dermatology practice.

Where can laser hair removal be used?

Laser hair removal can be performed anywhere on the body. Common areas we treat are the legs, bikini area, underarms, arms, the back, and chest. Laser hair removal can also be used on the face to eliminate hair on the upper lip, the chin, and between the eyebrows. It’s especially great to refine the hairline by taming hair growing low on the side of the cheek (lady sideburns) or to raise the hairline around the forehead.

For many men, laser hair removal on the back and chest offers an essential solution when going shirtless especially in warm weather. You can also say goodbye to those tufts of hair on your fingers and toes and in your ears and nose. For men who get folliculitis (ingrown hairs in the beard area), laser hair removal can be very beneficial.

Laser hair removal is great for all unsightly ingrown hairs anywhere on the body. If we get rid of the hair, we get rid of the problem!

Is laser hair removal right for me?

The ideal candidate has light skin and dark hair because laser hair removal works by targeting pigment in the hair. That pigment is called melanin and is also found in the skin. The darker the skin tone, the more melanin there is. For that reason, special attention must be paid when treating dark and olive skin tones. We don’t want the laser light to get absorbed by the skin accidentally and damage it. Not to worry, you’re in good hands with us! We use a long wavelength laser, absorbed less by melanin, to minimize the risk of injury to your skin’s pigment during treatment.

Unfortunately, people with blond, white, red, or grey hair are not candidates for laser hair removal because there is not enough pigmentation for the laser to target.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

No one can guarantee permanent elimination of 100% of unwanted hair, but there is no more effective treatment available. Please note that some people require touch-up maintenance treatments.

Overall, our patients experience excellent results and are extremely satisfied.

How long does it take?

The larger the area, the more time involved. In general, the process is pretty quick. The upper lip or chin each take 5 minutes. The underarms take 15 minutes. The bikini area usually runs 15-30 minutes. Legs could take an hour depending on their length.

How many sessions will I need?

During your consultation, one of our laser hair removal specialists will discuss your individual treatment plan. Most patients require 6-8 treatment sessions over the course of a year to effectively treat a particular area. Hair regrowth diminishes with each treatment session. Final results are long term.

How much downtime is involved and are there any side effects?

The treated area, or sometimes just the area around each follicle, may be pink. This generally lasts a few hours to a day and can be a little itchy.

Burns and scarring are always a risk with any laser treatment. Patients who have received such injuries at spas, salons, and other non-medical facilities routinely come to us for help with their laser treatment complications.

In our skilled hands, these types of complications are exceedingly rare, so please choose wisely.

When will I see results?

Usually, hair in the treated area falls out within a week after a session. Hair diminishes incrementally with each session because hair follicles in the current growth cycle are destroyed. When each growth phase has been cycled through, hair follicles will no longer produce hair, so you get less and less regrowth each time.

How should I prepare for my laser hair removal session?

Please be sure you do NOT have a tan at the time of your treatment. A tan can increase your chance of experiencing complications. Remember: a tan adds pigment and lasers target pigment. We recommend that you stay out of the sun at least one week before and one week after each session.

Generally, the shorter the hair the less painful and more effective your laser hair treatments will be. Longer hair can increase the risk of complications such as burns. As a result, we instruct patients to clip or shave their unwanted hair 1-2 days before their treatment session. Please do not wax or pluck 1-2 weeks prior to your treatment.

What does laser hair removal cost?

That depends on the size and number of areas treated. We can discuss that during your free laser hair consult.
