Microneedling facials with PRP are game changing, but this duo can also be used to treat a variety of areas including the neck, chest, arms, legs, hands, and torso.
What makes this combination so powerful?
This type of therapy couples two of the most advanced antiaging, restorative strategies available today: the collagen stimulation of microneedling and the heightened healing power of platelet-rich plasma.
What is PRP?
PRP is short for platelet-rich plasma. Your blood contains platelets which stimulate growth factors and stem cells that promote healing and rejuvenation. When your own PRP is injected back into your body, it turbo-charges your own regenerative processes.
How does microneedling work?
Administered by a microneedling pen device, controlled micro-injuries result in the production of new collagen and elastin. The micro-injuries stimulate your skin to repair itself naturally by rebuilding the connective matrix below the surface. The mini channels created by the micro-injuries also enable deeper penetration of the platelet-rich plasma. Please note: microneedling can be used as a solo treatment or in conjunction with PRP.
What to expect
First, a topical anesthetic gel is applied to the specific treatment area. A vial of your blood is then drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate out the PRP. This PRP is massaged into your skin before and after a full microneedling treatment. Microneedling creates mini punctures in the skin that enable the PRP to penetrate deeply through micro-channels. This is also a good time to add topical serums. Post-treatment, a hydrating gel speeds recovery. Patients go home with a post-treatment kit.
How long does it take?
The entire session takes about 1 hour. There is minimal downtime with some patients experiencing redness lasting 1-2 days. There may also be some minor, pin-prick type bleeding. Depending upon the individual and the treatment area, 3-6 sessions are usually required spaced 2-4 weeks apart.
Results appear over the course of several weeks. Since new cell and tissue production continues post treatment, it may take up to 6 months for full results to manifest. To maintain results, we recommend follow-up treatments about once a year.
Is PRP with microneedling safe?
There is little risk of side effects because your own body—not a product from a lab or a factory—triggers natural mechanisms it already performs. This treatment gives your skin a helping hand. Safe and effective for adults and teens of all skin types, adjustments can be made to meet each patient’s individual needs and goals.
Is this the facial Kim Kardashian made famous?
Yes it is! It’s the same facial with the name inspired by Dracula and his blood-loving brothers and sisters.
